Songkran, means “Festival of Pouring Water”. Thai people believe that by pouring water during this time…anything bad in our lives will be flushed away, and we will be blessed in the New Year.
In keeping with this tradition, guests at Bangkok Joe’s may perform an ancient Songkran ceremony to renew their spirits.
Songkran festival has evolved into a family gathering day, with youngsters pouring water to older family member to show respect. Girls help their mothers and grandmothers prepare big pots of noodles for family and friends who visit, since eating long noodles during Songkran is believed to increase chances of a long life and prosperity.
We invite you to take part in the water pouring ritual. Refresh and renew your spirit for the Thai New Year of the Ox, the Buddhist Era year of 2564.
An ox year is symbolized prosperity through diligence, strength, and hard work. May this year be especially auspicious for you, and may you be blessed with long life, beauty, happiness, and strength.
